1. Conducted a computer literacy program titled “Computer Literacy Program for Rural Women of Okharpauwa VDC, Nuwakot District” with assistance from UNESCO (NATCOM). October 2013- January 2014.
  2. Successfully completed a project entitled “Development of agricultural entrepreneurship among rural youth for self-employment in Nuwakot district” (July 2009 – June 2012) with financial assistance of NRs. 17, 86,812.50 from NARDF, Ministry of Agriculture Development. The objective of this project was to help the unemployed rural youths to create self-employment through the development of vegetable and spice-based enterprises in the peri-urban areas. The main project activities were :
  • The development of vegetables based enterprise
  • Local capacity development to ensure sustainability
  • Establishment of marketing linkages between the producers and traders
  • Output up scaled to other areas

Key achievements:

  • Formation of 10 farmer groups and two cooperatives
  • Among overall beneficiaries, 68% were women. In addition, most of the group leaders consisted of women, thereby demonstrating their enhanced leadership capacities.
  • From the project areas, 533 youths have now begun small scale commercialization of agriculture of high value crops and have witnessed an increase in their annual income.
  • Households have also improved the ways of producing quality manure.
  • Local resource personnel were developed
  • A wide network of farmers, traders and other technical and financial service providers established.
  1. Successfully completed (from October 2010 to September 2013) a project entitled “Conservation of degraded agriculture and livelihood improvement of marginalized farmers in Dhading”, with financial assistance from NARDF, Ministry of Agriculture Development. The objective of this project was to provide assistance to farmers restoring degraded slopy land and increase income by increasing production of high value vegetable crops and develop marketing network along with building farmer’s capacity.

The main project activities were:

  • Formation and strengthening of groups
  • Practical on spot training on Sloping Agricultural Land Technology model
  • Introduction of rain water harvesting technology
  • Commercial vegetable production

Key achievements:

  • Ten farmers groups were formed.
  • 250 beneficiary farmers were involved in developing the SALT model for soil and water conservation.
  • Crop rotation based food production system in the main plots.
  • All beneficiary farmers are practicing small scale commercial vegetable production especially leguminous and cucurbit species in 500 ropanis of land,
  • The average annual income of each household has increased by NRs. 15,000.
  • One vegetable collection and information centre established for promoting, marketing and disseminating information related to SALT Model and commercial vegetables production.
  • Five big water harvesting plastic ponds were constructed and used for watering vegetable crops.
  • Network of producers, traders and other technical and financial service providers established.
